Why flow racks

Built for Lean Manufacturing and FIFO Material Flow

Gravity flow racks use a slight incline to automatically advance bins, totes, and cartons to the pick face as stock is consumed. As operators pull parts from the front, new stock feeds forward from the back — maintaining FIFO rotation without any manual effort.

The result eliminates wasted motion, over-reaching, and the hunting that slows production. Operators stay at the workstation. Replenishment happens from the rear without disrupting the line.

Common Applications

Where Flow Racks Make the Difference

  • Assembly cell parts presentation
  • Kitting and sub-assembly operations
  • Kanban and pull-based replenishment systems
  • Supermarket / marketplace racks
  • Carton, tote, and bin flow lanes
  • High-mix / high-volume lines

Built for Your Operation

Custom Gravity Flow Rack Configured for Your Cell and Workflow

No two production environments are the same — and off-the-shelf storage rarely fits the way lean cells actually work. Every IPS gravity flow rack is engineered around your specific cell layout, bin sizes, part weights, and replenishment cycle.

Our systems follow standard modular lean design principles — so they integrate cleanly with existing infrastructure, replicate across multiple cells or facilities, and reconfigure as your production evolves.

Why IPS

A Complete Gravity Flow Rack System, Not Just a Box of Parts

Built on AluPro and Ecoflex

Using a pipe & joint system? Ecoflex is fully compatible. Ready for a step up? AluPro is our premium system built for demanding lean production environments.

Engineered Around Your Cell

No off-the-shelf racks. We work from your cell layout, bin sizes, and replenishment cycle to design a system that fits your floor exactly.

Turnkey Systems or Components

Need a complete installed system? We deliver it fully assembled, ready to roll into your cell. Prefer to build in-house? Our full component catalog is available to order directly.

Engineering Support Included

Every project includes practical engineering support — structural validation, layout review, and 3D CAD drawings submitted for your approval before anything is built. No extra fees.

How we Compare

Our Systems vs the Alternatives

Pre-engineered warehouse flow racks are designed for fixed warehouse storage. Pallet flow systems are built for entirely different applications. IPS gravity flow racks are purpose-built for lean manufacturing — modular, reconfigurable, and designed around your specific cell layout. When your line changes, the system changes with it.

How we work

From First Conversation to Your Production Floor in Three Steps

01 Tell Us About Your Project

Share your layout, sketch, or BOM. Our project managers gather dimensions, bin specs, and cell constraints — and guide you through anything you need.

02 Design and Approval

Our engineers design your system in 3D CAD and submit drawings for your review. Nothing goes into production without your sign-off.

03 Delivery and Installation

Arrives fully assembled. Roll it into your cell and you're running. Most projects delivered in as little as 2-3 weeks.

Build it yourself

Prefer to design and build in-house? We have you covered.

Our Work

Gravity Flow Racks in Production

Every flow rack we design is custom. Here’s a sample of what we’ve built.

Modular Gravity Flow Racks for Lean Manufacturing

Line-side FIFO flow systems designed for efficient material delivery on the production floor.

  • Gravity-fed lanes for bins, totes, and cartons

  • Configurable for high-mix and high-volume environments

  • Modular aluminum construction — no welding or painting required

  • Suitable for all manufacturing industries

  • Designed, assembled and supported in Canada

Designed for Line-Side Material Flow

The ideal way to present material to your operators, gravity flow racks are the industry standard in advanced manufacturing facilities due to their responsiveness to the needs of your operators. Effortlessly retrieve heavy boxes and parts, while optimizing storage space. With IPS, every aspect is configurable: length, width, height, and function. Our gravity flow racks can also be structured to feed numerous containers for efficient line side material delivery. Design the best turnkey solution for your needs, and take a step towards leaner manufacturing today.

IPS gravity flow racks are modular material delivery systems used to support lean manufacturing, kitting, and assembly operations. By using gravity to present materials at the point of use, these systems improve FIFO control, reduce operator motion, and support consistent production flow.

Our racks are built using industrial-grade aluminum profiles and connectors, allowing layouts to be easily adjusted as products, volumes, or processes change.

Purpose-Built for the Production Floor

Unlike large-scale pallet racking or forklift-dependent storage, gravity flow racks are intended for line-side use, where ergonomics, accessibility, and replenishment speed are critical.

Common applications:

  • Assembly cell part presentation

  • Kitting and sub-assembly operations

  • Kanban and pull-based replenishment

  • Carton, tote, and bin flow lanes

Modular by Design

IPS gravity flow racks follow widely adopted modular design principles used in lean manufacturing environments. This allows us to integrate with existing layouts, replicate proven designs, or improve upon current systems without requiring a full redesign.

  • Compatible with common modular pipe-and-joint design standards

  • Easy expansion, reconfiguration, or repair

  • Suitable for greenfield installations or retrofits

Why Manufacturers Choose IPS

  • Canadian-based supplier with domestic support

  • Shorter lead times and predictable delivery

  • Focus on finished systems, not just components

  • Practical design support for engineers and CI teams

  • Built for real production environments

Our focus is on delivering complete, reliable flow rack solutions — not just selling parts.

Configured to Your Application

Each gravity flow rack system is configured to suit your specific materials, weights, and operating requirements.

  • Adjustable lane widths and depths

  • Roller or wheel track options

  • Single- or multi-lane configurations

  • Static racks or mobile frames

From Concept to Delivery. How it works:

1. Tell us about your project

Share your layout, sketch, or bill of materials and our project manager will work with you to gather the relevant information to get started including flow rack dimensions, elevations and constraints.

2. Design

With your collaboration, our engineers will design or validate a custom flow rack configuration to suit your exact application and specifications. 3D CAD drawings and renderings will be submitted for your approval.

3. Delivery and Installation

Our team will will deliver your flow rack system fully assembled and turn key. In most cases your flow rack system arrives ready to be installed into your production cell. In some cases, we can deliver it in kitted form for your team to assemble on site.

No welding or painting. No fabrication delays. Fully modular.

Built for Industrial Use

IPS gravity flow racks are used in manufacturing facilities where durability, repeatability, and efficiency matter. Our systems are designed to support continuous operation in demanding production environments. We serve all manufacturing industries including automotive, aerospace, furniture, electronics and more.
